Ela Ira is a solo project by singer-songwriter, producer, and violist Elizabeth Boardman. Ela Ira's music draws inspiration from many different genres, from retro synth-wave to R&B. Her artistic influences have been James Blake, Alicia Keys, Banks, Lana del Rey, Sylvan Esso, and Kate Bush. A week before the first single release, she was invited onto the German radio station, Radio Fritz, for an interview about her upcoming album. Her songwriting for her previous band, White Night, gained recognition when they were nominated for the German Songwriting Award 2018 and when they won the US Songwriting Award 2019. In 2018, they released their debut album “Golden Heart” with indie label Motor Entertainment, received a fair amount of airtime on German radio, and two of their music videos appeared on German MTV. Elizabeth is also a classically trained musician who works as a freelancing violist/baroque violist in Berlin.

Ela Ira is releasing her debut album in 2022. The songs on this album are far more personal than any of the songs Elizabeth co-wrote with her previous band, White Night. The experience of composing and writing alone (while also living alone during Corona) brought forth a myriad of emotional themes from female power, independence, and prowess, to isolation, vulnerability, and loss.
